This VBS package, with the theme of “Apple Power, the Power of Jesus”, has been successfully used as a four-day VBS event.

The idea behind the program is to provide a low cost, fun-filled VBS, which involves utilizing your own congregation’s creativity, planning, and successful implementation.

Our VBS was a two-hour evening program for three evenings, and on the fourth evening we provided a hot dog supper and program for the children and their families. Everything was "in-house" and we did not order any VBS materials.

After the second year of being VBS director, I felt as if we could utilize the talent and skills of the local congregation to create a VBS program that children would enjoy and, at the same time, learn about Jesus. A theme was developed, “Apple Power, the Power of Jesus” and the work began. Necessary materials including art, games, crafts, and ancillary items, necessary to help make the program a success, all had to be written and produced.

Since I had already been involved in beginning a puppet ministry (writing scripts & creating and making puppets), it seemed as if developing a VBS program wouldn’t be that difficult. A background in teaching, writing curriculum, and developing classroom materials helped to organize, plan, and implement the program. Of course, nothing would have worked without the help of wonderful vounteers!
